I think minimum wage is usually below the market rate for untrained labor, so for all intents and purposes, it might as well not exist.






In the US there are 3.6 million workers with wages at or below the federal minimum wage (http://www.bls.gov/cps/minwage2012.htm). Do you really think that those cases aren't effected at all by minimum wage laws?

There are also other cases like software startups. A startup has to pay it's founders minimum wage even when they are willing to work for free.
