A forum needs growth to be successful. That means new people have to discover the forum.
Besides sharing on social media search engine are a primary way for people to find new content.

I disagree that only a big forum can be successfull. A small group being able to have a quality discussion without mindkill in a mindkilly topic can be very valuable compared to a more big group having only slightly better discussion. It's more important to get the concept working right rather than distributing the concept fast.

I don't think the impact of a small forum of politics with members who don't have political power themselves is going to create a meaningful impact on the political landscape.

Besides that forums lose members over time and have to replace lost members to keep the quantity of discussion the same.

How is having political impact a relevant metric? I thought that the goal was to improve the quality of political thoughts and have more working emotional life concerning politics. One of the reasons is also to to test whether the scoring method produces a more quality discussion. You can get a valuable negative result even if the forum is small. It might even be better as the micromechanisc how it has or fails to have an impact can be studied in more detail.

Making a small amount of people have a better "emotional life" when they think about political has some value, but I the impact is relatively small from a EA perspective. On the other hand providing a better political discourse for society in general is very valuable.

I don't think it makes sense to treat this project as a scientific experiement. It's n=1 and there are many reasons why it might fail.
It makes more sense to have the goal of creating a meaningful political forum.

Instead of theorycrafting you try things out. i don't konw whether it's scientific and it's not set decisively settle the quesiton one way or the other but it suggest that this method produces a lot more knowledge what could go right and wrong than having a big speculative discussion about it.

When you design a fusion reactor you don't set up to fuel a city. You set out to test whether the tehcnology is at a point where you can draw more power out than you are inputting. Similarly I am interested whether effective political talk is possible even in principle and what are the options to try to make it possible.

I'm more interested in having effective political talk than I am in the theoretical question of whether it's possible.

It's also sad to hear that you were never in an environment where effective political talk existed.

I am currently in the middle of collecting a data point on what kind of political talk is possible within the framework of omnilibrium. It was made more explicit to me that there are atleast different opinions on what constitutes working political talk. It made me realise what passes for you as effective political talk might not feel like that to me. It is within possibility that we might have experienced similarish discussion cultures but I have experienced it more as an unworkable error state rather being glad on what I have.
