Your example is better than what we have now (it still has too much blank aread between comments but that's a side issue), however, I can't figure out where that option is located.

When you click on any topic, the comments automatically open down to the third lowest level. To open lower level comments, click on the "View replies" link which opens an entire thread in a new window.

But that's not the option to read all the comments in a thread.

An option to read all the comments in the topic thread (along with an option to read just the top level comments) has been added. The selection can be made by using the "Show comments" menu which is located directly above the comments.

This link is absent when you click on "Preceding Comments" to get to the list of all comments.

Also, when you use this option, on Firefox at least, there's a large blank space at the left side of the page which is not present when viewing the comments without this option. It's particularly bad because with nested comments you want as much horizontal space as is available, and this bug eats the space up.

The more nested comments in the thread have a "read more" which is produced at a ridiculously low size. The first level comment can be several times the size of a more nested comment and only the nested comment gets a "read more".
